KONGSBERG Canada Accelerates Space & Defence Industrial Expansion in Canada with Strategic Agreements with MDA Space and Telesat
KONGSBERG Canada today announced an expansion of its Canadian industrial presence across the space and defence sectors, marked by the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)with MDA Space Ltd. and a strategic Letter of Intent (LOI) with Telesat.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – September 21, 2026 – KONGSBERG Canada today announced an expansion of its Canadian industrial presence across the space and defence sectors, marked by the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)with MDA Space Ltd. and a strategic Letter of Intent (LOI) with Telesat LEO ULC, a subsidiary of Telesat Corporation (Nasdaq and TSX: TSAT). These agreements coincide with the official visit of Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to Ottawa, reflecting the deepening strategic alliance between Canada and Norway following the bilateral Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed earlier this year.
Underthese strategic agreements, KONGSBERG is establishing dedicated partnershipswith premier Canadian space leaders to strengthen technical cooperation andsovereign communications.
- MOU with MDA Space Ltd.: Establishes a collaborative framework between KONGSBERG and MDA Space Ltd. to explore joint space and defence projects and technical cooperation in a variety of domains.
- LOI with Telesat LEO ULC: Establishes a strategic intent to leverage and evaluate the integration of the Telesat Lightspeed low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network into KONGSBERG defence platforms and solution architectures. This cooperation would support the delivery of secure, resilient, low-latency military connectivity for Norway, Canada and their allies.
