At Kongsberg Geospatial, we build precision software for mapping, geospatial visualization, and situational awareness. We focus on creating high-performance, real-time components for mission-critical applications. Our TerraLens® platform is the world's most trusted geospatial software for critical infrastructure projects and technology.
We also provide software development and hardware integration services - primarily for defense applications. We develop UX and HMI components for Command and Control systems and vehicular platforms. Our Technology has been tried and proven in solutions for air-traffic control, ISR, and air defense.
We are an industry leader in the research and development of new technologies for Beyond Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) navigation systems for UAS platforms and in Remote Towers for air traffic control.
With nearly three decades of providing dependable performance under extreme conditions, Kongsberg Geospatial has become the leading geospatial technology provider for mission-critical applications where lives are on the line.

Kongsberg Geospatial develops software and SDKs for real-time geospatial applications. Our tools are used primarily by defense systems integrators to display live sensor data on control system displays.
TerraLens® provides comprehensive real-time mapping and display capabilties, including:
2D and 3D mapping and visualizationReal
time track display
LOS and spatial analysis
TerraLens is a powerful, real-time 3D geospatial SDK that maximizes the performance of applications on low power architectures. TerraLens allows developers to easily build up layers of data to create a comprehensive map picture.
Kongsberg Geospatial provides technology for defense systems, including the US Navy Aegis system, deployed on Arleigh Burke class destroyers, like the one shown in this image.
Kongsberg Geospatial produces ground control stations for unmanned systems, and detection and counter-UAS solutions to help detect drones intruding in critical airspaces.
Kongsberg Geospatial serves two primary markets: defense and unmanned systems. Our technology is used in a wide range of C2 / C4 applications and in ground control stations and tracking systems for drones.
Every day, thousands of military personnel, air traffic controllers, first-responders, and ordinary users rely on the software that we provide, as a key component of systems and platforms for Command-and-Control, air defense, air-traffic control, and search and rescue.
We have over 20 years experience building geospatial visualization, mapping, and HMI software. Our team has the know-how to identify your challenge, determine the right solution, and have it implemented effectively.
Our customers trust us, and that trust is both a mark of distinction, and a tremendous responsibility. That’s what drives us. And that’s why we’re determined to earn that trust in everything we do.

Today, Kongsberg Geospatial remains a world leader in high performance software solutions. Our software is fielded in many of the most important Command and Control systems in the world, including air, land, sea and underwater applications. With over two decades of focused experience, we have developed the tools, expertise and experience to ensure the most demanding display requirements are satisfied.
Now in its 9th generation, TerraLens® (formerly InterMAPhics) reaffirms our original focus on the highest performance geospatial data visualization software solutions. Today we support the latest web services, a myriad of map, data, imagery and video formats, and open standards for data integration. We continue to embrace and adapt to emerging open standards while adhering to our commitment to platform and development environment independence.
For over 20 years we have been a part of many exciting and complex projects. Visit our Industry pages for a list of our capabilities, and major projects.
In 2006, we transitioned from a small, privately-owned company to a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. Originally founded in 1814, Kongsberg is one of Norway’s oldest companies, and recently celebrated their 200th anniversary. Their storied history and experience in the defense and maritime sectors expanded our products and solutions to larger and more diverse customers worldwide. For more information on Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, visit their website.
2008 saw two significant events: the launch of InterVIEW, an “out of the box” application framework; and our re-branding as Kongsberg Gallium. In February of 2016, the company was rebranded again as Kongsberg Geospatial. InterView has since been re-branded as TerraLens UI.
Since our founding in 1992, we have focused our efforts on high performance geospatial visualization software. Building on the expertise gained in those early years, we developed the InterMAPhics display kernel and released the first version of our Software Development Kit, the first such commercial software development tool specifically focused on high performance geospatial data rendering.
Early milestones included the launch of InterGEO in 1993, Command and Control and Air Traffic Control toolkits in 1994, and a complete re-engineering of InterMAPhics in 1996 to support Object Oriented design and development. This commitment to excellence continued through the late 90’s and early 2000’s as our software was used for larger and more complex projects.
At Kongsberg Geospatial, we believe in the importance of giving back to the community where we live and work. We feel strongly that a meaningful connection to our community can only be built by creating a culture that supports and encourages grass-roots volunteerism and we encourage employee-driven initiatives.
We also believe that by showing leadership we can accomplish great things. We have been building partnerships with charitable organisations and with like-minded companies that will allow us to work together to have a positive and tangible impact in the community.
For example, since 2009 Kongsberg Geospatial has supported the Ottawa Hospital Foundation through annual workplace campaigns culminating in an annual golf tournament. Over the past seven years, we have raised over $350,000 for cancer research and improvements to cancer care, through a combination of employee-run initiatives, including an annual golf tournament, payroll deductions, and a donation matching initiative.
The campaigns are managed entirely by workplace volunteers. Through our fundraising efforts with The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, we have raised money for cancer research; we've equipped a chemotherapy bay at the local hospital; we've provided equipment for simulation and training; and most recently, we contributed to the construction of a new dedicated breast cancer treatment centre at the Ottawa Hospital.
Kongsberg Geospatial aspires to achieve sustainable development, and to strike a good balance between financial results and our impact on society and the environment. We work to ensure that corporate social responsibility and respect for the environment are integral parts of our daily routines.
This means we will take into account the various stakeholders who are affected by our activities. This includes employees, customers, partners, external stakeholders, and the community that we operate in. We strive to act ethically in everything we do, and to consider both financial returns and these stakeholders when making decisions.
In order to continue long term growth and improvement, the operation of Kongsberg Geospatial and the development of products are to be approached from an environmentally sustainable perspective. We will act responsibly towards the environment and attempt to minimize the footprint left behind by our activities.
