When the time came to explore options for bringing Kongsberg Geospatial’s TerraLens SDK to the web, the company ultimately chose the only option that would allow them to deliver the features and performance their desktop SDK is known for.

In order to provide the same ease of use as any modern web SDK, TerraLens 3DWeb provides a natural JavaScript API with support for both desktop and mobile browsers.

Built with TypeScript, developers can use the provided type information to develop applications with confidence.

Under the hood, TerraLens Web uses Emscripten, a C/C++ compiler for WebAssembly to provide the same proven software for delivering real-time mapping and geospatial visualization. Using WebGL, nearly any phone or desktop can have access to your geospatial application.

Don’t let the “3D” in the name confuse you: the TerraLens 3DWeb SD provides 2D functionality as well. With the API, you can instantly switch between 2D or 3D projections, or get the best of both worlds with a strategic table-top 3D view.

With support for popular standards like Web Map Tile Service (WMTS), GeoJSON, and KML, bringing maps into applications is easy and efficient, regardless of whether you’re sourcing data from across the internet or from a local GeoServer.

If you need to display more than just maps, or want to deliver compelling applications with less configuration, you can integrate your application with TerraLens Server for drop-and-go support for a wide range of map formats, 3D terrain, and MIL-STD 2525 symbology.
